Equipment and Medication Support

Hospice Foundation Geelong provides Medication and Equipment Grants to Barwon Health and Bellarine Community Health that allows them to provide individuals and their families with necessary equipment and medication.

This funding has been significant in allowing people to remain in their homes, and decreasing anxiety, monetary burden and the need for hospital admissions.

Hospice Foundation Geelong has provided funding to Bellarine Community Health Palliative Care to allow them to support patients with the provision and payment of medication and equipment hire. Patients have more freedom to choose to have end-of-life care in their homes without the added anxiety of financial burden.

The Barwon Health Palliative Care SEF was established in February 2020 as an initiative to improve patients’ access to equipment to help them remain at home and reduce their financial burden.

Over the past year, the Community Palliative Care program has seen an increase in patients on the program dying in their preferred place of choice.

The SEF initiative funded by Hospice Foundation Geelong has contributed greatly to this increase. Provision of appropriate equipment supports people to be cared for with dignity in the place of their choosing.
