How it All Began...

Hospice Foundation Geelong was formed in March 1982 by local General Practitioner, Trevor Banks. The foundation, then known as Geelong Hospice Care Association, provided direct care to palliative patients, a health care discipline that had previously lacked in the Greater Geelong Region.

In the late 1990s, the foundation stopped providing direct care and instead began focusing on supporting other organisations to provide this.

Forty years on, the foundation aims to continue the vision of the founders with the emphasis on supportive in-home care through funding and growing the capacity of Palliative Care service providers in the greater Geelong area.
